The introduction of ARM based Media Players At Cebit 2010 we saw the first ARM Based media Player launched by Asus. DLink and Boxee have earlier this promised a Media player running on a an ARM platform but have yet to publish the specs of this player. The suggested ARM architecture offers more processing power for running non video applications of the player such as an Internet browser and social network applications. Asus have chosen Samsung to provide them with an ARM CORTEX-A8 CPU running 800MHz, but is still using less than 10 watt in operation. The SoC of the Samsung chip includes PowerVR SGX540 IP from Imagination technologies that should give the CHip a media performance twice performance of an Intel CE4100 SoC. This in sum is quite a powerful digital media player solution Asus is launching. http://www.gliffy.com/pubdoc/1865949/L.png |
