Realtek is overtaking Sigma as the first choice for Producers when choosing SoC for Media Players.

The Realtek chipsets the RTD1073 provide fast and reliable performance at a low cost. These players can cope with all popular media codecs and containers . The one big problem common to all the Realteks is a fairly unattractive user interface.

Realtek have won two product design awards for thier chip design of the RTD1073 chipset. The awards have been given for best pordcut desgin in the digital home from popular Asian IT sites and magazines.

Since the launch of the Chipset in September 2009 over 26 OEM producers of media players have choosen the Desgin from Realtek over Sigma's chipsets. They include among others, brand names like Asus, Seagate and former Sigma Desings costumer Divco.

Sigma have only had one newcomer to their camp, namely  Western Digital and lesser known like Novatron and Datastor.
